SOCCER:
Cullen Lattin junior team returned to winning ways last Sunday in Aisling Park with a 2 – 0 victory over Redmondstown. The win moves the team up to second place in the race for promotion to the Premier Division with only one match to play. However, Bansha Celtic can clinch that remaining promotion place if they take four points from their last two matches. The home team were well on top right from the first whistle, creating numerous chances and restricting the visitors to very few opportunities. It took until the seventy minute, however, for Cullen to open the scoring when P.J. O’Brien converted the second penalty awarded to the team. A few minutes later Pakie Farrell secured the victory with his shot going in off the crossbar from an Alan Hayes cross. Next Sunday the team take on Tipp Town.
In nest Saturday’s underage fixtures, the U10s entertain Cappamore at 3 pm, the U13s play away to Castle Utd at 11 am, and the U16s travel to Charleville for the semi-final of the Cup.
The club’s Last Man Standing competition started on line last weekend.
